Sukiyaki Western Django @ The Uptown

October 27th, 2008

by Mista Kay Himself

Sukiyaki Western Django is a Japanese film by director Takashi Miike. The wide variety of big name casts includes Japanese Actors, Musicians, Japanese comedians, and also Quentin Tarantino.

The movie has Tarantino’s style of visuals and chronology, like things happening thats already happend, then happening again to show its happening…and then explaining whats goin on…you know…Pulp Fiction Steez. Its also interesting that the Japanese cast all speak English and has subtitles at the bottom. It has a good effect in that the genre and the nationality becomes blurred. Its supposed to be a Western so they talk in english, but its taking place between the Japanese Genji-Heiki Gangs.

The down side is, I don’t think that the actors got to portray the characters to the full extent. Because of the language differences, I think that the acting got held back and the relationship between the character and the audience was weak. It could have been more powerful if it was just subbed in english…

But I guess all in all that was the point. A mixed genre movie that remains ambiguous overall. It has lots of elements from sub-genre movies giving it the raw element, while still keeping the action moving at a high pace with nice visual effects.

But let me say one thing…Holy crap…is the Uptown Theatre ever cold…just cold…I was talkin about how the uptown stays in business and saying like “I wonder how many movies they show in a week” and all this…well now I know…they don’t have heat…They have lots of butter on their popcorn, but no heat. You better wear your puff down the next time you roll in there. Wear some earmuffs! Prrrrrtttt

Wu Tang Clan Tour?

October 25th, 2008

by Mista Kay Himself

Wu Tang Clan aint nothin to F wif!! You know how it goes. In support of their 8 Diagrams cd, they is tourin the US of A. But heres the thing…Mr.Meth and GZA both have their own tour dates that over lap the clans tour dates, and who knows about the other dudes. They gon be there if they wanna.

The thing with Wu is they is gon do whatever the hell they want…who cares…They is gon do they usual Homie call but the line up is gon be sketchy as hell…like… “Eh…Eh yo…here Represen’n tha Wu!!! The Rza maybe, sometimes…The Gza, ODB (R.I.P. dogg)… Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef once in a while, U-God most of the time, Ghost Face Killah hopefully but maybe not, but sometimes if we lucky, and Method man sometimes…”…Damn…

So who gon be there?

The Wu family is big enough to fill the stage so I aint worried about that. Seriously, the Wu family tree is like huge…theres like the Official Wu tang clan, but then theres so many other people that branch off the Wu who you ain’t even heard of…like…”Poppa Wu, Big Wu Momma, Buddah Monk Wu, Yeezy, Jeezy and Wuuzy…Wu Diddy Poppa Wu…Wu Tangy-Tang Wu…” I don’t know man…its hard to keep track of… But regardless of who is gon be there and who is not…bottom line is, Wu Tang killa beez is on a swarm, and its the Wu Tang show and I will most definately wanna be there…They Solid Son!! “Suuuuuuuuuuueeeeeeee~!!” Thats the Sound of the Wu!!

They is about to have a turkey dinner together as a family of G’s. Who made the turkey? I’m not sure…I know that none of them would want to put an apron on…cuase they hard rollers.

I would watch them right now in fact if I knew where they were, and if my VHS player wouldn’t eat up the tapes all the time…seriously…its ghetto…but ghetto fabulous…actually no…its not fabulous at all…it gets messy with all the tapes and what not…maybe we can watch it at my house sometime only if you bring your own VHS player…or just go to Bamboo and watch it.

Artlife Factory Part #3, Friday October 24, 2008

October 18th, 2008

by Mista Kay Himself

Factory Party at Artlife is once again in the works, and will be bustin out on October 24 starting at 8:00 with a $5 cover. Seems like the turnout is getting bigger and bigger everytime, and the party gets better and better as well. This time their asking you wear black garmets, kinda like batman…but the thing with Batman is, his suit aint thin like Spider mans. Like, Spider man’s suit is thin so if your body built, you can see your muscles through the suit, but Batman just has an imprint of pecs and abs built in on his suit so he aint even that tough…I know cause I asked Katie Holmes.

Anyways, Factory Party #3 should be really good. Usually Read More »
